WEEK 4  

PHONICS -  Our students did great on the phonics test on Friday.  I will be giving a practice test each Wednesday.  If a student gets everything correct on the pre-test, then s/he gets to have 'silent free choice' on Friday instead of taking the test again.
  
LANGUAGE ARTS - We will begin writing narratives this week.also working on writing narratives.

MATH - We are continuing with Topic 1, addition.  Please continue to work on math facts at home.  We wont our students to be able to add any 2 single-digit numbers with automaticity.  If you don't have flash cards, make them, purchase some (99 cent store?), or use a phone app.

SOCIAL STUDIES - We are studying and reading about citizenship and voting.  We will conduct a vote on Friday with all of the first graders.

P.E. - We played tetherball last week.  This week is a running week.  Please be sure they have proper shoes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

HOMEWORK - I will be sending homework home in a separate folder this week.  Please keep the homework folder and all homework home until Friday.

MISC - Picture Day is Tuesday.   Field trip to the LA County Fair is on Wednesday.
