Classrooms must have environments that are conducive to learning.
This means that students are expected to:
- listen when others are speaking
- follow directions
- participate in learning
- keep hands, feet and objects to themselves
- walk quietly and do not disturb others
- work and play in a safe manner
- care for personal and school property
- treat others the way they want to be treated
*Hand Stamp – This is my way of letting you know how your child’s behavior was for the day. A STAR means your child had very good behavior. A "Y" stamp means that your child broke the rules one time and moved their behavior card to yellow. An "R" stamp means your child broke rules 2 times that day. Moving to black means your child broke rules 3 or more times that day. I will follow up with you if this occurs.
*Fabulous Prizes – If your child stays on green every day during the week, s/he gets to pick a prize from the prize box on Friday afternoon.
*Roadrunner Rally - If your child has excellent behavior, turns in all homework, and completes all classwork, s/he get to attend our Roadrunner Rally on Friday afternoons.
*Simmons Smiley Raffle – I give out Simmons Smiley raffle tickets for ‘catching students doing good things,’ such as participating, getting straight to work, answering questions correctly and helping others. We draw names out of the raffle jar on Fridays. The selected students each get to pick a prize out of the prize box.
*The Marble Jar – When the class does a good job participating during our phonics lesson or another important time, they earn a handful of marbles placed in a jar. When the jar is full (usually three times per year) the students have earned a popcorn party.
*Team Points – I give a team point when I feel a team has done an especially good job of following directions in class. The first team to earn 10 points gets to eat lunch in the classroom with me.
