WEEK 2
PHONICS - We reviewed the sounds /k/ spelled c, /f/ spelled f, short o, /d/ , /h/, short e, /b/, and /l/.MATH - We will take our first test on Tuesday. Be sure they can do the work on the review paper that will come home on Monday.
SCIENCE - We watched the eclipse on the big screen. Students we very interested. We celebrated with 'sun' juice and 'moon' donut holes.
P.E. - P.E. is each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure that students have appropriate shoes for running and P.E. activities. This week our class focus will be running.
HOMEWORK - Homework begins this week. Homework goes home on Monday and is returned on Friday. Completed and returned homework is a requirement to attend Roadrunner Rally.
MISC. - Some students need to learn how to tie their shoes. If they wear tie shoes to school, can you please double knot them in the morning?
- Information about signing students up for 100 mile club, and for an after school art class came home last Friday.
FIELD TRIP - On Friday, students brought home information about our upcoming field trip to the L.A. County Fair to see the animals and exhibits.
FOLDERS - The Glenmeade student folder is to come back and forth to school each day. Students will bring classwork and information home each day and I want them to be in a routine to use their folder for this. Everything that comes home in the folder is to be taken out each night. Homework will also come back and forth in this folder.
CLASS SIZE - Some students have moved to our new first grade class with Mrs. Mortensen. I am happy to say that our class is now at 24 students. Whew!
CLASS PET - We have a new class pet. Franklin, the tortoise, will be living in a habitat in our room. The kids are excited.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - Please join us on Thursday at 5:30 pm. I will be presenting information about what our First Grade is all about. I hope to see you!
